i've been learning that blessings come in different forms.
first trip to meet Aregash in November 2010 |
what happens when the blessings from God don't look the way we expect?
do we deny ourselves these blessings?
the fact that it's a blessing can leave us feeling unworthy.
that is NOT what God intended.
so we carry on.....push on,
with a grateful heart for this gift.
leaving to go to the US Embassy to be able to bring Aregash home |
and then we realize that having expectations,
no matter how big or small,
how beautiful or sometimes not.....
leave us wondering why we really don't feel the way we should.
she is "ours"...saying goodbye at a ceremony at the care center |
and with time the blessing blooms.
~you can pause my music at the top of the page to listen :0)~
THIS is OUR blessing......
home for 9 months.
THIS is OUR blessing......
home for 9 months.
and when i think that this is how long we mamas carry our babies in our bellies,
i think about how amazingly well this child of mine has transitioned.
english is her third language.....
as if that isn't the most amazing thing in itself.
i think about how amazingly well this child of mine has transitioned.
english is her third language.....
as if that isn't the most amazing thing in itself.
(sadly she has completely lost her 1st and 2nd languages, wolaytinga and amharic).
she has always been spunky and loving and sensitive at times.
and now the love she gives,
she gives soo freely,
and now the love she gives,
she gives soo freely,
the trust she has in all of us....
how do you trust when your world has been turned upside down?
all God's doing.
how do you trust when your world has been turned upside down?
all God's doing.
it is incomprehensible what things look like only being home 9 months.
and what our God wants.....
he wants us to just be thankful
for each day,
for each day,
for each little moment,
for each snuggle,
God is whispering,
"just do it,
enjoy it,
bask in it,
LOVE it.
LOVE HER....
the way that i
LOVE YOU".
so i do,
and i do,
and i do,
and
I
WILL.
thank you precious Father,
for my gift.
Happy 9 months HOME
my sweet baby girl!
I LOVE YOU!!!!

Well said! Just think of how far you have come since we met at Empowered to Connect in Denver! You are truly blessed!
Thats awesome. I have been watching your story since the very beginning and its amazing to think she has been home 9 months. So exciting can't wait till we can start the process this winter or spring!
Kendra Thank you so much for stopping by and commenting on my blog. You have no idea that what you said I so needed to hear today. I have tears in my eyes righting this. It seem God closed another door for us one we were really thinking he wanted us to go through and so I am feeling discouraged and thankful at the same time if that is possible :) I knew adoption was going to be hard I just had no idea how hard and if I am honest sometimes it seems like we should quick turn back before it gets even harder because everything is so easy right now. But I know that is not what God has called us to. Thanks again for your comment it meant more then you will ever know!
Hi Kendra! I'm a friend of Deena's and she sent me the link to your blog. Reading this post brought back so many memories. We brought our daughter home from ET almost two years ago. She was 4 at the time and it is truly amazing to see her transformation. Your daughter is beautiful! I loved the way you compared her 9 months home to the gestation time in a pregnancy. I'm going to C4C in March and Deena mentioned that you might be looking for a roommate. I just made my blog private last week, but send me an email if you might be interested. Thanks, Bonnie dbn@sterling.net
I always love reading your blog! What a beautiful you have and thank you for sharing your journey with all of us!
Happy 9 months home!!! She is such a doll...
